A couple of days ago the PCA Paladins headed up to Hattiesburg to play the Forerunners for the second time this season.
The first time these two teams played each other, it was a catastrophic game for the Forerunners with them only having 3 points to end the first half.
That night was PCA’s senior night, and they got the big win they were looking for; however, the tables were turned last Monday, Jan. 22nd, as it was now Hattiesburg’s turn to host their senior night.
This time the Forerunners would have no reason to show up without energy, and they ended up using that to their advantage.
The game ended with another PCA victory, but the Forerunners, instead of losing by 20, only lost by a mere 4 points.
It feels like Hattiesburg is finding the energy they were reaching for all season, and it couldn’t have come at a better time with the MSAHA Conference Tournament only 9 days away.
Any player or follower of this league should be excited for all of this upcoming tournament play, but especially this varsity tournament.
With PCA showing that Muddy River is beatable in the District Tournament and Hattiesburg nearly pulling out a win against the Paladins, it’s looking tight between these top 3 seeds.
Hattiesburg will have the home court advantage for the entire conference tournament as well, possibly playing into their advantage, but other teams have had success at the Forerunners’ gym as well, Muddy River to name one.
All and all, many factors will play into who comes out with the title of MSAHA Conference Champions, and I’m assuming the crowds will be wild on February 1st when this tournament kicks off.
With the entire tournament being held at one gym this year, just a qualifying game could be as packed as a championship game was in the past seasons.
Needless to say, I myself am very excited to see what it will be like, and I can’t wait for this tournament to take place.
I hope to see you there.
