Terry Pushes Through Behind Strong Defense to Defeat Raymond 14-7

[RAYMOND, MS] The Terry (HS) Bulldogs defeat the Raymond (HS) Rangers 14-7 at Raymond Field on Friday night.

The Bulldogs struck first with a 43-yard touchdown run in the first quarter by senior running back Sharonsky Johnson to take a 7-0 lead with five minutes left in the first quarter.

The Raymond Rangers answered in the second quarter with a touchdown pass from Tylen Atkinson. That tied the ball game up at 7.

Late in the first half, the Bulldogs were looking to take a lead at the end of the half. Jordan Magee scurried out of bounds to stop the clock at one second to go. The Bulldogs had a choice to make whether to kick a 45 yard field goal or to take a shot at the end zone. Coach Thigpen of the Bulldogs decided to take a shot at the end zone. Jordan Magee executed a scramble out of the pocket and targeted Nick Kelly at the back of the end zone. Kelly was able to pull in the catch against double coverage for a highlight touchdown to take a 14-7 lead at the half.

The second half was dominated by the Terry defense. The Raymond defense stood up as well, not allowing any second half points from the Bulldogs. There was no score in the second half, and the Terry Bulldogs held on to preserve a 14-7 victory over their rivals in the Raymond Rangers.
