PCA Paladins Hold Off Defending Champions 63-51 to Win Their First Ever 16UB Title

The PCA Paladins defeated the Muddy River Counselors 63-51 in Hattiesburg to capture their first ever MSAHA 16UB Championship.

Heading into Saturday morning, the Paladins had the edge as they had defeated Muddy River 49-42 on Friday afternoon to take the double elimination advantage. PCA only needed one win in order to be champions. The defending champion Muddy River Counselors had to win two to repeat.

The game started with a Luke Sanders three pointer. But PCA soon gained the edge. PCA led by 8 points at the half behind terrific outside shooting. In the second half, the Counselors made some runs, but every time the Counselors would bring it to within four, the Paladins would drain another outside shot. Finally, the Paladins put the Counselors away at the end to win 63-51.

The Paladins were led by Timothy Singletary, who went 5-7 from outside the arc. Drew Boggs shot well for PCA as well.

The PCA Paladins have been a part of the MSAHA for 11 years. They have won a lot of 16U games and have been in a lot of 16U championship games. But this was the first time they had ever crossed the finish line as MSAHA champions.
