Well, it’s that time of year again. The weather is getting colder, SEC teams are starting to play other SEC teams (finally), the World Series is on, and the Bulls are 3-2 at the beginning of their quest to win the NBA Finals. One other thing is starting… MSAHA basketball.
Yup, the season is already here, and there are a lot of questions for all of the teams in the league. With a lot of teams adding and subtracting personnel, needless to say this year is going to be very interesting.
The Meridian Flyers have a lot of questions to answer after losing two All-Star caliber players. Can they rally and put together a solid year or do they begin the rebuilding process? The PCA Paladins also have some questions to answer, like how do they win without their All-Star player and head coach? Can the Scott County Flames build on a successful year in 16u and put in a winning season? The Laurel Knighthawks and Jackson Victors face the same question this season. That age-old question is: how will their young players do once they are forced into the spotlight?
While I do expect this season to be just as exciting as last year, I do not expect it to be the same as last year. Will the defending back-to-back state champion Laurel Knighthawks storm their way to a three peat, or will another team stake their claim in the MSAHA history books? Only time will tell.
