[RAYMOND, MS] The Muddy River Counselors defeated the Meridian Flyers 71-49 in the first of a four-game home stand.
The Counselors began the game in dominant fashion. The first quarter ended with a 28-3 Muddy River lead. The Counselors immediately went to the bench, where they stayed for the rest of the game.
Flyer guard Cooper Franklin finished the game with 14 points, leading the team in scoring as Meridian was effective in scoring the basketball, considerably more effective than in the two teams’ last meeting.
The Counselors were led in scoring by Caleb Sanders, who finished with 24 points.
Muddy River will be at home again on Saturday as they host the PCA Paladins in their second meeting of the season. Last time, the Counselors won narrowly, 47-42 in LaCombe. Tip-off will be at 3:30 PM.
