Hey Hey Muddy River!
Jackson Counselors Homeschool Sports has hit the circuit! Also known as the Muddy River Counselors, the organization is a sports ministry that invites homeschoolers from the Jackson Area westward to Vicksburg. The Counselors provide competitive sports for kids ages 12-18 in a godly environment that focuses on harmony, radiance, and stewardship. The organization’s identity verse is Proverbs 11:14: “Where there is no guidance, the people fall. But in an abundance of counselors, there is victory.”
The Muddy River Counselors are the newest members of the Mid-South Association of Homeschool Athletics, also known as the MSAHA. This is the conference for the homeschool sports programs that covers Mississippi and one team from Louisiana. The team will be competing in boys basketball in the inaugural year.
The Counselors was started this summer by Willis and Angela Williams. They have three sons. The two younger ones, King and Sun Michael play for the Counselors. The oldest plays basketball at Mississippi College. Willis Williams is the head coach of Counselors basketball. He is now entering his 10th season of coaching basketball in the MSAHA, previously coaching the Hattiesburg Forerunners and Jackson Victors.
Muddy River Counselors basketball will have games archived and occasionally live-streamed on TSJW Network with Counselors TV.
The Counselors will begin the 2020-21 season on the road as they head to Florence to take on the Discovery Christian School Lions on Oct 27.
