Over the past few months, the players participating in the MSAHA conference have been hard at work getting ready for the 2023-2024 season.
With last season being absolutely dominated by the PCA Paladins, an untrained eye would think that this year would be a slightly altered copy and paste of the last.
However, as most of you reading this know, this is not the case…
PCA lost FOUR of their starters to the inevitable senior year climax, and now every team and their mother is fighting tooth and nail for that revered #1 seed.
At this point in time, few games have been played, and many teams are still grinding in the shadows, yet to show off this season’s line up and new skill sets.
So, of course, this leaves me with limited content to write about; however, I will say that pre-season rumors are floating about.
Most of you remember last year’s championship game, right?
The gym was packed,
the two benches were hyped,
and the crowd that amassed on First Presbyterian’s stage was siding and cheering for one team…
the Muddy River Counselors…
A team that has gone virtually unchanged from last season.
To their own demise, some players already are predicting an easy Muddy River run to the championship.
However, they shouldn’t be so sure and so easily forfeit any idea of victory for themselves.
Many players, not to mention entire teams, are in a hot pursuit to stake their claim in the history books of MSAHA championships.
Though, only time will tell if their efforts will offer them a meeting with success…
