Meridian Eliminates Jackson Behind Elliot Tulip’s Step Back Three

The #4 Meridian Flyers defeated the #2 Jackson Victors 64-63 Friday afternoon, eliminating the champion of the last seven years.

The game was close the whole time. Yet the Victors were ahead most of the time. Ethan Hendry, who had 18 points on the game, powered the offense for the Victors. Gideon Peacock had 17, doing damage.

The Victors took a 46-35 lead in the third quarter, but the Flyers roared back. They rallied to cut the score to four.

In the end it was a back-and forth in the clutch. But with 8 seconds to go and Jackson up 60-58, Elliot Tulip nailed the step back three to take the one point lead.

Jackson drew up a play and got a wide open last second shot for Ethan Hendry. Front rim. The Meridian Flyers won 61-60.

There will be a new champion crowned on Saturday for the first time since 2013.
