Laurel Knighthawks-Jackson Victors Games Cancelled

The Laurel Knighthawks and Jackson Victors matchup scheduled for Friday night in Ridgeland, MS has been cancelled according to sources.

This marks the fourth straight game that has been cancelled for the Victors, as they have struggled with injuries and illness in the last few weeks. Significant injuries came in back-to-back games when Gideon Peacock fractured his wrist against the Brookhaven Academy Cougars, though playing through it the next day, dropping 32 points in a narrow 66-72 loss to the PCA Paladins. The following Monday, they found the fracture on an x-ray, sidelining him for the near future. Ethan Hendry also went down the next game against the Jackson Academy Raiders when he had to get stitches above his eye after a collision. He is believed to be returning after Christmas break. The illnesses are not believed to be COVID-related, but that is yet to be seen.

This also wraps up 2020 basketball for the Knighthawks as well, with their next game coming when they host the Hattiesburg Forerunners on Jan. 5. Laurel (5-3)[3-1] is currently holding down the #1 seed in the conference, a front-runner in contention to win the conference that the Victors have held for the last 7 seasons.

The Victors (3-6)[2-2], who is currently in the #4 seed in the conference, look to hit the floor again when they take on the Jackson Academy Raiders again at the Raider Dome.
