The Hattiesburg Forerunners and the Laurel Knighthawks have had some pretty historic match-ups in the past MSAHA seasons.
These teams see each other as crosstown rivals, and it feels like every game concerning them is a hard fought and scrappy one.
Tomorrow (Dec 14th) Laurel heads down to Hattiesburg’s First Presbyterian gym, with one of the more formidable home crowds, which sets the home court advantage atmosphere.
The Knighthawks technically faired better than the Forerunners against the #1 seed Muddy River Counselors on the stat sheet.
What does this mean for Laurel when it comes to facing the Hattiesburg Forerunners?
Laurel has the potential to go on runs against any team in this conference and has multiple players that can get a bucket when needed.
I am predicting Brock Anderson to be a force for the Knighthawks as he proved he can be against the Muddy River Counselors when he dropped 18pts.
Hattiesburg seems to be improving game by game though and has a starting roster that holds multiple players that can be deadly from behind the arc.
This means that Laurel will have to play good defense to keep Hattiesburg’s players from going on hot streaks if they wish to keep the game close like they have done in the past.
The Forerunners are sitting in the #2 seed right now in the MSAHA Conference. So, this would be a huge win for Laurel if they manage to pull it off.
We’ll have to wait and see though.
Varsity boys will begin playing tomorrow around 7pm.
