Meridian Flyers Avenge Last Week’s Tough Loss With 68-43 Road Win Over Forerunners

The Meridian Flyers (5-3)[3-2] knock off the Hattiesburg Forerunners (4-3)[3-3] in Hattiesburg by a score of 68-43, avenging the heartbreaking loss at the buzzer last week.

The night began with the undefeated Forerunners 16u Boys team (9-0)[6-0] cruising to a 44-16 win, as they continue their quest to repeat as champions.

In the varsity game though, the Flyers came at the Forerunners with a purpose. The first quarter was basically a deadlock, with the Flyers having a 16-14 edge over Hattiesburg. Meridian managed to incrementally extend the lead to 8 at halftime.

But in the second half, the Flyers soared. They exploded in a 19-4 third quarter, giving them a 23-point cushion that allowed them to cruise to the end.

The Flyers are on Christmas break and will next take the court on the road at the Muddy River Counselors. The Forerunners will hit the road on to take on the #1 seeded PCA Paladins on Saturday.
