Counselor Beat: Counselors Have A Field Day, Getting Two Blowout Wins

The Muddy River Counselors got two blowout wins in 18UB and 14UB on Saturday morning in Raymond.

The Counselors started off the morning by taking on the Tupelo Titans. The Counselors came out firing on all cylinders. Sun Michael Williams started off the game fire hot, with 13 points in the first quarter. From there, the Counselors had full control on the ball game. Chris Purnell put his stamp on the game all throughout. Kaleb Drane came back from sickness today and came back strong with a career-high 11 points. King Williams had a strong performance with 11 points, 9 of them coming in the fourth quarter.

The Counselors finished with a commanding 70-48 win, scoring in the 70s for the fifth time of the season.

In the 14U game against the Jackson Victors, the Counselors pulled out the steamroll, taking a 22-0 lead after one period of play. The Counselors made another big run in the third quarter in rout to a 52-23 win over the Victors. Caleb Sanders finished with 19 points, and Luke Sanders and Sun Michael Williams ended with 15 points apiece. This advances the Counselors 14U squad to 6-0, with a dominant look in every game, winning by at least 20 points every time. In boys games that are not 18U, Muddy River is 15-0 so far this season.

The Muddy River Counselors will next take the floor with 16U girls and 16U boys. They will host the Mt. Zion Lions on Dec. 13.
