[Raymond, MS] The Muddy River Counselors defeated the Jackson Victors 67-45 at home on Monday night.
The Counselors and Victors started off in a tight game. After the first quarter, Muddy River and Jackson were knotted up at 13.
Unfortunate circumstances came upon the Counselors early in the second quarter, Jimmy Baker went down after turning his ankle on the foot of former teammate Colin Crosby. Baker had to be carried off the court and taken to the clinic to get it checked out.
Toward the end of the second quarter, the Counselors found their groove. King Williams led the way with 10 points in the first half. Muddy River held a 33-25 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Counselors exploded. Caleb Sanders and Sun Michael Williams went off, with highlight plays coming along the way. By the end of the third period, Muddy River led 52-27.
The Counselors held down the fourth quarter to hold on to a 22-point victory.
The Muddy River Counselors were led by Sun Michael Williams with 19 points and 6 assists and Caleb Sanders with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists.
The Muddy River Counselors (4-6)[3-4] take on the No. 2 seeded Laurel Knighthawks down at Salem Heights tomorrow night.
