<p>[MILTON, FL] The PCA Paladins competed in West Florida Baptist Academy’s Conqueror Classic held at the Conquerors home gym, Nov. 16th-18th. This was a varsity only tournament, filled with exciting matchups and great competition. Both the 18u girls and boys came out on top, defending their titles from last year.</p>

<p>The 18u girls went up against the Santa Rosa Eagles to begin the tournament. The Paladins were able to get the win 41-30. Their next game was a hard-fought battle vs the Central Saints. Through much adversity, PCA got this win as well 46-42. This sent them to the championship game against the home team, the West Florida Conquerors. The Paladins made a late run to take the win 44-35. With this win, the girls were named the Conqueror Classic Champions.</p>

<p>The 18u boys started their tournament play against the Central Saints. PCA got the win 48-36. They then faced the Snook Eagles. Through a back-and-forth game, the Paladins got the win 42-34 with a late run. PCA found themselves in the championship once again vs the West Florida Conquerors. This was a hard-fought win, but the Paladins took this one 52-36, winning the Conquerors Classic for the second year in a row.</p>

<p>After a successful week in Florida, the Paladins had tough losses in both 18u boys and girls against the Oak Forest Jackets on Nov. 21st. They look forward to bounce back from these losses next week against the CHEF Patriots.</p>

<p>I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving break! &nbsp;</p>

<p>The PCA Paladins are back at it this year in the 2023-24 season. They look to defend the MSAHA titles in both 16U and 18U boys and girls, as well as some non-conference tournaments. Though just starting the season, the Paladins are confident and ready for whatever competition lies ahead. So, with that being said, let’s dive in!</p>

<p>The 16U girls started their season just this past Saturday facing the Laurel Knighthawks. The Paladins put up a good fight but were unable to stop the downlow presence of Laurel. The Knighthawks took the win 35-14. Despite the early loss, PCA looks to rebound from this, developing the young team they have this year.</p>

<p>The 16U boys debuted on October 28th, playing both the Tupelo Titans and the Meridian Flyers. Both games were hard fought till the end, but PCA pulled away with two wins: 39-38 vs Tupelo, and 48-44 vs Meridian. Three days later they faced Lamar Christian School, defeating them 37-11. The following Saturday was their toughest game yet, going up against the Muddy River Counselors. Muddy River got the win by a good margin with the final score being 52-22. Just a few days ago on November 11th, the Paladins drove up to Laurel to play the Laurel Knighthawks, winning that game 50-18. The PCA 16U boys are now 4-1 for the season.</p>

<p>The 18U girls also had their first game on October 28th against the Meridian Flyers. This was a close game, but PCA was able to pull ahead late, getting the win 33-18. A week later they defeated the Muddy River Counselors 40-23. A week after that they faced the Laurel Knighthawks, taking a tough loss 65-38. The PCA 18U girls are now 2-1 overall.</p>

<p>The 18U boys, like the previous two age groups, started their season on the 28th of October vs the Meridian Flyers. They handily got this win 58-35. Three days later they faced a very solid Lamar Christian team. They kept it close the whole game, but the Lions went on a late run, winning 50-33. PCA had another tough game against the Muddy River Counselors. This game was close the whole time, but Muddy River made some clutch shots at the end, pulling ahead with a win 47-42. The Paladins played the Laurel Knighthawks on November 11th, defeating them 55-27. The PCA 18U boys are now 2-2 overall.</p>

<p>With the 2023-24 season underway, the Paladins look to recover from losses and come back stronger. The 18U boys and girls will be competing in a tournament in Milton Florida this weekend, held at West Florida Baptist Academy. Both teams look to defend their title and come back with another trophy.</p>

<p>As we dive into the business of basketball, let’s not forget to take a break from the chaos and be thankful for all God has blessed us with. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving break next week!</p>

<p>[SPRINGFIELD, MO] About two weeks ago, the PCA Paladins participated in the annual NCHBC tournament, where homeschool teams from all over the U.S. come together for a week competing for the title “National Champions.” PCA brought four teams with them: 18U and 16U boys, and 16U and 14U girls. Each team competed well and ended their season strong.</p>

<p>18U boys competed in Division 2, containing the 17-32 seeds in the nation. They began their week facing the Victoria Cobras, defeating them 69-55. Later that evening, they defeated the Benton Bucks 70-51. The next day they found themselves in a tight shoot-out against the Lincoln Eagles. This was a hard-fought game, but PCA took the win 81-70. With these wins, the Paladins were on their way to a gold ball game against the Missouri Rush. This game went back and forth with momentum shifting either way until PCA took it away late, winning 55-51. With this win, PCA became the D2 Class 5A Gold Ball champions. The next day the Paladins had their toughest challenge yet, facing the FEAST Patriots in the Gold Ball Showdown Series semifinal game. This too was a high intensity game, going back and forth, but PCA again was able to push through and get the win 58-55. This brought them to the championship game versus the Manhattan CHIEF Thunder. This was the closest game yet, going into triple OT! Despite PCA’s valiant effort, the Thunder took the win 71-64. The Paladins ended up 18th overall in the nation, and with an outstanding record of 35-10.</p>

<p>16U boys were 25-3 coming into the tournament. They competed in Division 1, which consisted of the top 16 teams in the nation. They started their week with a solid win against the Columbus Hawks 54-47. The next day they followed it up with a very impressive win over the Little Rock Flames 43-39. Later that night, however, they struggled against the CHSA Wolverines, taking a loss 33-58. They were unable to adjust and ended up losing their next three games, finishing 8th overall in the nation, and with a solid record of 28-7.</p>

<p>16U girls started their week with a tough loss to the FBCHA Eagles 26-29. They then went 4-0 the rest of their week, winning their bracket. They ended the season 17-9, finishing 9th overall out of 20 16U girls teams. 14U girls struggled at first but finished strong with a win. They ended up with a record of 3-3.</p>

<p>The PCA Paladins had a successful season, but sadly it’s all over for now. Like my good friend Hank says, &nbsp;“Don’t these tears fool you, it’s all dog in this mug!”</p>

<p>[HATTIESBURG, MS] The Paladins had an outstanding tournament last weekend in Hattiesburg, MS, as they participated in the annual MSAHA tournament. They brought four teams to compete: 16U girls, 16U boys, 18U girls, and 18U boys. All four teams went undefeated, winning the title for each. The Paladins also brought a 14U boys’ team to Laurel, MS, on Monday for the 14U MSAHA tournament, in which they placed 3rd.</p>

<p>18U boys came into the tournament as the #1 seed. They rolled through to the championship, defeating the Laurel Knighthawks and Hattiesburg Forerunners. The #2 seed Muddy River Counselors were a tough out for the Paladins. It was a high intensity, close game, with both teams draining threes. But Hank Peace led a 4th quarter PCA push, hitting two 3’s and an and-1 layup. The Paladins took the win 71-55.</p>

<p>18U girls were the #2 seed coming in. With wins over the Meridian Flyers and Laurel Knighthawks, they too made the championship. Laurel met them there, fighting their way back through the tournament. The Paladins took an early lead and held it the rest of the game. A few key players for the Knighthawks were hurt though, so this made things very difficult for them. PCA got the win 45-30.</p>

<p>16U boys got bumped to the #1 seed after the Muddy River Counselors dropped out. The Paladins came into the tournament off an 8-game win streak. They continued the win streak with wins over the Mt. Zion Lions and Laurel Knighthawks. They met Laurel for the fifth time this season in the championship and got the win 50-32.</p>

<p>16U girls had a #2 seed coming in. They defeated the Scott County Flames and Laurel Knighthawks to make it to the championship. PCA then got the win over Laurel 33-25.</p>

<p>14U boys were the #2 seed and started out on fire, beating Laurel 53-2. But the Paladins took a tough loss to the Jackson Victors in the semifinals. They ended up placing 3rd with a win over the Mt. Zion Lions 41-25.</p>

<p>The season is far from over for the Paladins, as they still have a few non-conference games, as well as two more tournaments: &nbsp;Regionals [Dallas, TX] and Nationals [Springfield, MO]. &nbsp;</p>

<p>[MONROE, LA] This past week PCA participated in the NCHBC Gulf&nbsp;Coast District&nbsp;tournament. Teams from Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and Arkansas all met up in Monroe, LA, for what was an exciting weekend of fun, friends, and basketball. The Paladins competed well in all five&nbsp;age groups (18U boys, 16U boys and girls, and 14U boys and girls).</p>

<p>The 18U boys came into this tournament confident with an overall seeding of 4 out of 15 teams. They rolled on into the championship game, with wins over the Acadiana Christian Defenders (#13 seed), Falkner County Falcons (#5 seed), and CHAAMP Hawks (#1 seed). PCA would end up losing in the championship to the #2 seed Little Rock Flames 59-53, placing 2nd overall. The Paladins now have an overall record of 24-4.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 16U boys were looking to continue their win streak through this tournament. They defeated the Laurel Knighthawks, Little Rock Flames (#1 seed), and Shreveport Force, all of which were&nbsp;close, hard-fought games, taking the 1st place trophy in the tournament. PCA 16U boys now have a record of 17-2 on the season.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 16U girls started strong with wins over the Laurel Knighthawks and Little Rock Flames. They ended the weekend in dominating fashion, defeating the CHA Flame 52-22. The girls would also come out (like the 16U boys) as the champions for the district tournament. That brings their record to 10-6 overall. </p>

<p>The 14U boys came into the tournament without many games together. They’ve only had four games all season, all of which were routine wins. The boys started out with a huge comeback win over Tyler Heat but lost to Little Rock Flames in the semifinals. They ended the weekend with a big win over the Saline County Warriors and a 3rd place finish. The 14U boys&nbsp;now have a record of 6-1.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 14U girls had not played a single game together going into the weekend. They lost their first game to Tyler Heat but rebounded with two&nbsp;wins against the Laurel Knighthawks and CHA Flames They ended the tournament with a loss to the Little Rock Flames and a 3rd place finish. They now have a record of 2-2.&nbsp;</p>

<p>PCA is looking to end the regular season with wins as they will travel to Laurel to take on the Knighthawks this coming Saturday. The following weekend will be the MSAHA Playoffs, held in Hattiesburg, MS. &nbsp;</p>

<p> ”PCA Paladins vs Lamar Christian (12-9-22) and the Laurel Knighthawks (12-10-22)”</p>

<p>The PCA boys 18U and 16U teams just had one of their most successful weeks of their basketball season so far. Both teams played two different opponents this week, including Lamar Christian School and the Laurel Knighthawks. In the Paladins’ first games of the week they faced off against the highly esteemed Lamar Christian Lions. Lamar is a 4A private school located in Purvis, Mississippi, and they have an extremely impressive background, winning multiple state championships. The Lions entered the game with a near perfect record of 8-1. Although the Paladins were likely favored to lose these games, the players and coaches had other plans. As the Paladins head coach, Brian Comenge, always says, “We are going to walk in that gym believing that we are the best team there.” After 32 minutes of one of the most hard fought and physical games the 18U boys have ever competed in, the Paladins proved that they belong on the big stage by defeating the Lions 58-55. The Paladins battled a tough crowd, a major height differential, and key players getting in foul trouble throughout the entire game. Even with these challenging conditions the PCA Varsity boys pulled through in the end and secured their biggest win of the season. The 16u boys were also able to get a big time win in dominating fashion with a final score of 45-20.</p>

<p>The Paladins girls 18u and 16u teams traveled up to Purvis to compete against the Lamar Lions as well. The Lady Lions are one of the best teams the Paladins will play the entire season. The young lady Paladins competed with maximum effort throughout the game, even after losing one of their 18u starters due to injury. Although the Paladins gave it their all and never gave up, they were unable to overcome the impressive sharpshooting of the Lions who would go on to win both of these games.</p>

<p>The second set of games this week were against the Laurel Knighthawks. Over the past couple of seasons Laurel and PCA have become two of the most profound rivals in the entire MSAHA league. After last season’s thrilling Varsity championship game, the narrow loss has been on the Paladins’ minds ever since. With this being the first matchup since then, PCA had this game circled on their calendars. PCA knew that this year would be different than last year because Laurel had lost multiple seniors. With that being said, the Paladins knew they couldn’t take this game lightly, as any time they face off against the Knighthawks the game will always be competitive. After a slow start, the Paladins would eventually put the “pedal to the medal” and blow the lead wide open. Although the game’s score differential would eventually surpass 40 points the Knighthawks team and crowd refused to give up and showed a commendable amount of effort even to the final buzzer. PCA’s 18u boys team would go on to win the game 83-40 and remain undefeated in conference play. This was a big game for the 16u boys as well since both teams (JV and Varsity) believe that this is a championship or bust season. The Paladins wanted to come out and prove a point with a dominate win and they did exactly that. The game started off pretty rough for the Paladins though, and at halftime it was still anyone’s game. After some regrouping at halftime, the PCA boys would go on to stretch the lead out and secure the win with a final score of 53-32.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The PCA JV and Varsity girls were shorthanded as they headed into their game against the #1 ranked Laurel Lady Hawks, missing two starters and a couple of subs. The PCA 18U girls fought hard and even pulled to within six points in the 4th quarter but came up short. Although the PCA girls lost these games, there were definitely some positive takeaways. It required some of the younger PCA players to step up and compete against a team that plays at a very high level. This is reassuring to know that the PCA Varsity girls not only have a chance to win the championship this year but are also developing players for years to come.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This weekend also showcased the first performance of the PCA 14U boys team against Laurel. Although the 14U Paladins had never even held a practice together, their comradery and team chemistry would have made you think they had played together for years. They won their first game of the season in dominating fashion with the final score of 57-7.</p>

<p>Whether they won or lost, the Paladins cannot dwell on this previous week for too long. They have a tough week ahead of them as they face off against the Hattiesburg Forerunners on Thursday, December 15 in Hattiesburg and the Muddy River Counselors on Saturday, December 17 at home.&nbsp;</p>

<p>[MONROE,LA] On December 1, the PCA Paladins headed up to Monroe, Louisiana to compete in the annual Bayou Classic, which is a tournament for all the Louisiana homeschool teams. This tournament is typically very competitive.</p>

<p>This year, there would only be four teams playing in it, with the PCA Paladins, the CHA Flame, the Shreveport Force, and the SWLA Knights competing. As the Paladins prepared for this tournament, they knew that there were some high expectations after their recent success and championship victory in the WFBA tournament.</p>

<p>The Paladins 18U boys team dominated the entire tournament with an average win margin of 20.5 points per game. They strolled their way into the championship and defeated the SWLA Knights with a final score of 62-41.</p>

<p>The 15U boys team carried on the pattern of blowing out their opponents, as they also were able to go undefeated and beat the Shreveport Force in the championship with a final score of 39-23.</p>

<p>As Alicia Keys once said, “This girl is on fire!!!” which totally encapsulates the way the 18U girls team played this tournament. Just like the boys team, the 18U girls were able to win every game including the championship game where they defeated the SWLA Knights with a final score of 47-23.</p>

<p>The 15u girls team also played extremely well this tournament. The girls finished with a record of 1-1 and tied for first place in the tournament!</p>

<p>The Paladins not only had a blast on the court but also outside of the gym. The team spent practically every spare moment hanging out together at either the hotel, El Paso, or Surge Entertainment.</p>
