Elliot Tulip Drops 32, Isaiah Davis Scores 25 as Meridian Shocks Laurel 69-49

[Laurel, MS] The Meridian Flyers defeated the Laurel Knighthawks 69-49 on the road.

This game was highly anticipated. It was a battle between the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds in the MSAHA conference. The last time the two teams had met, the Laurel Knighthawks had won 71-51.

Since then, the Meridian Flyers have upgraded their offense. The first time these two teams met, Isaiah Davis finished with five points. He upped that to 25 points tonight.

The game was tight early with the Laurel Knighthawks holding the lead most of the time early. But, in the third quarter, the Flyers began to build separation. The Knighthawks struggled to score in the second half, scoring only 19 points in the second half to the Meridian Flyers’ 40 points.

At the end, Silas Ensign hit threes that got his point total up to 21 points, but it would not be enough as the Meridian Flyers ended the night with a 20-point win.

Elliot Tulip and Isaiah Davis stole the show, as Tulip finished with a game-high 32 points.

The Meridian Flyers will next take the court at home against the Jackson Victors. The Laurel Knighthawks will also next take the court against the Victors but the next day.
