Counselors Start Off Strong, Run Past Scott County Flames

[Carthage, MS] The Muddy River Counselors defeated the Scott County Flames 73-50 on Monday night.

The game was close in the first few minutes with the Scott County Flames taking an 10-9 lead behind a John Crenshaw three pointer. That was the last lead the Flames would take. The Counselors explode on a 17-0 run and never looked back.

Scott County was in foul trouble throughout the game. Wesley Bell, Cole Mitchell, and Aubrey Ray all fouled out of the game. The Flames only had seven players dressed out for the night, so the Flames had to finish off the game with four players.

The Counselors were able to go to their bench with Ben Everhart getting his first bucket and a series of others from Muddy River’s young players.

William Leach led the Counselors with 13 points including two from behind the arc.

This was changed to a 16U game as the Scott County Flames were reclassified from 18U to 16U. This was the Flames first 16U game.

The Muddy River Counselors (2-0)[2-0] will host the Laurel Knighthawks in their first home games on Thursday night. That will be a repeat of last year’s MSAHA 16U Title Game.

The Scott County Flames (1-6)[0-1] will host the PCA Paladins on Saturday.

This game is unavailable due to technical difficulties. Barring these kinds of difficulties, all Counselors games are available on MSAHA League Pass.
