King Williams Scores 20, Counselors Eliminate Scott County

The #6 Muddy River Counselors eliminated the #7 Scott County Flames after beating them 54-48 on Tuesday night.

It was clear that Scott County did not want their season to end as they took a 9-0 lead to begin and it was 11-3 four and a half minutes into the game. The Counselors finally made a run and they tied the game at 24 at the half.

In the second half, Chris Purnell came alive, scoring 13 points on the game, with 10 in the second half. Sun Michael Williams struggled shooting from the outside but played well defensively and distributing the ball. Caleb Sanders was racking up rebounds throughout the game. The Counselors took the lead in the fourth and closed out the Flames to win by 6.

King Williams notched his fourth 20-point game of the season with 20 points. Caleb Sanders had another near-triple-double with 7 points, 18 rebounds, and 10 steals. Chris Purnell had a double-double, with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Sun Michael Williams also had a solid game with 8 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals.

The struggles for the Counselors came from missed shots. As a team, they shot 17 for 58 from the field, 4 for 26 from three, and 8 for 25 from the free throw line.

The #7 Scott County Flames’ season ends after elimination.

The #6 Muddy River Counselors will face the #4 Meridian Flyers at 7:45 PM on Thursday in another elimination game.
